Nothing Better than FREE Books!

The upcoming week will be a BUSY one for me, as a reading teacher, because it is Literacy Week in Florida! To celebrate I am going to dedicate my next few posts to LITERACY!

I LOVE to read…but want to know what I love more than reading??!! FREE BOOKS!! (of course)

I LOVE to share things that I enjoy (that’s why I BLOG!) After reading a fantastic, life changing book, nothing gave me more pleasure than handing it to a friend that I knew would do the same when they were finished. I knew “I’d get my money’s worth”…so to speak.

Then the e-reader came along.

How to Get FREE e-books for your e-Reader!

I didn’t run out and get one…. I didn’t really plan on reading on one…until I got an iPad!

I really love my iPad….sometimes (shhh… don’t tell) I think a little too much. But I didn’t read on it at first…

Late one Night Everything Changed!

I was reading a FANTASTIC book…. the first in the series…The ending was SUCH a cliffhanger….and I HAD to have the next book right then!!!!

No waiting until tomorrow….

I needed it right then!!!

My husband was not a fan of running around at 11pm in search of the next book.

“Why don’t you download it to your iPad?” GENIUS!

An Electronic Reader was Born! (ME!)

I had the book downloaded and was reading in a matter of minutes. The problem came when I finished the book two days later. No handing it off…no getting my $$$ worth.

I know it seems silly but paying $10 and then not handing it off??? This BOTHERED me!

Then I Discovered BookBub!

What is Book Bub?

BookBub is a FREE email newsletter that keeps you up to date about deeply discounted and free digital books!

When you sign up you choose the types of books you’d like to get notified about — with categories ranging from mysteries to cookbooks – They even have a teen section! I selected ALL the genres so I get alerted about them but don’t worry….that doesn’t mean I have to download them.

They will also ask you what type of e-reader you have. That way you only see deals you can use!

BookBub doesn’t actually sell books. They simply alert you by email to fantastic limited-time offers that can be purchased from retailers like Amazon’s Kindle store, Barnes and Noble’s Nook store, Apple’s iBookstore, and others!

BookBub features works ranging from big-name authors like Michael Connelly, Debbie Macomber, and Jodi Picoult, to independent authors who might be lesser known but whose books are getting rave reviews. (I’ve discovered some authors I may have never read before…easy to take a risk for .99 cents or FREE!)

I look forward to getting my daily e-mail. At first I downloaded like crazy…(you may say I’m an e-book hoarder) but I have become more choosey.

Wow! I've never heard of BookBub! I need to check that out. I've been grabbing free Kindle cookbooks for the iPad and little else.
